چکیده

Objectives: Ovarian carcinomas are responsible for the death of more women than all other gynecologic malignancies in Western world. detected an advanced stage disease approximately 80% patients. Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) important family involved detoxification several xenobiotics. Thus, this mechanism protects tissues from harmful effects oxidative stress and chemical-induced damages. The expression them may contribute to characteristics ovarian carcinoma as they can metabolise both exogenous endogenous compounds, which implicated development cancer. Therefore, our aim was determine expressions GST Mu 1 (GSTM1), Pi (GSTP1), also p53, is a tumor suppressor gene, benign malign tumors metastasis tissues. Methods: A total 99 patients with enrolled study. Thirty-one tumor, 17 51 metastasis. immunohistochemical GSTM1, GSTP1, p53 staining these were investigated. Results: highest noted malignant group followed by group. GSTP1 significantly higher ones (p = 0.015). No statistically significant difference observed level GSTM1 between groups 0.524). < 0.001). Conclusions: indicate that could be biomarkers cancer progression. Further studies cases required confirm results present

GSTT1, GSTP1, and GSTM1 genetic variants are associated with survival in previously untreated metastatic breast cancer

Purpose The polymorphisms in genes including GSTM1, GSTP1 and GSTT1 have been found to predict development and therapeutic efficacy in various malignancies. Breast cancer is one of most common cancers among women. In this study, we evaluated the prognostic value of three functional polymorphisms of GSTs in patients with previously untreated metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Patients and Methods...

Perturbation of Rb, p53, and Brca1 or Brca2 cooperate in inducing metastatic serous epithelial ovarian cancer.

The majority of human high-grade serous epithelial ovarian cancer (SEOC) is characterized by frequent mutations in p53 and alterations in the RB and FOXM1 pathways. A subset of human SEOC harbors a combination of germline and somatic mutations as well as epigenetic dysfunction for BRCA1/2. Using Cre-conditional alleles and intrabursal induction by Cre-expressing adenovirus in genetically engine...

evaluation of p53, pten and β-catenin immunoexpressions in primary ovarian epithelial tumors

background: ovarian cancer comprises a heterogeneous group of neoplasms. the prognosis cannot be predicted by histopathologic examination alone. the aim of this study is to evaluate p53, pten, and β-catenin expressions in primary ovarian carcinomas in an attempt to find a possible relationship with morphologic parameters and clinical findings. methods: the study included 100 epithelial ovarian ...

Primary hepatic embryonal sarcoma masquerading as metastatic ovarian cancer

BACKGROUND Hepatic embryonal sarcoma (HES) is a rare but aggressive primary tumor of the liver occurring most frequently in childhood. CASE PRESENTATION We report a case of a 52 year old woman having previously undergone treatment for ovarian serous papillary carcinoma who subsequently presented with a large solitary mass in the liver. Initially this was presumed to be metastasis from the ova...

Overexpression and mutation of p53 in epithelial ovarian cancer.

We examined p53 expression in 107 epithelial ovarian cancers with immunohistochemical techniques using monoclonal antibody PAb1801. High level expression of nuclear p53 protein was detected in the malignant epithelium in 54 (50%) of these cancers. Expression of p53 protein was undetectable in 13 benign gynecological tissues. p53 mRNA from three cancers that overexpressed the protein were sequen...
